Monday, September 15th, 2008

The miracle “Cell” – the brain of PS3 – is a product of many years’ teamwork developments of IBM, Sony and Toshiba. The 3,2-GHz core is supported by seven specialized subsidiary processors (the total number of the supported fibers is nine). On theory, the advantage of the chip compare to the competitive decisions allows deformation of the environment in real time, complicated effects, animation of many particles (explosions, smoke, lava, water, haze, glass) and even more perfect AI.
However, the power of Cell is at the expense of its complication, and from now on the programmers will go through a very hard time. Once acquire the use of the parallel algorithms in the application, the PS3 processor will show its true nature.

The NINTENDO Wii processor

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

The core of Wii can’t compare with the power of the “motors” in PS3 и Xbox 360. The processor with the code name “Broadway” responds to the PowerPC specification and it is produced by Nintendo и IBM. It was created especially for Wii using 90-nanometer process, “Broadway” by his nature is evolutionary development of the 180-nanometer “Gekko”, which Nintendo used in GameCube in 2001. The balance is: the use of the chip is reduced with 20%, but as whole the improvement of the speed is small.
The numbers– Broadway is with bar frequency 729 МHz compare to 485 МHz for the Gekko, except that it consist one core, which brings it more closer to a console from the going down generation, than the next generation. And yet the productivity of Broadway is enough, because of the fact that Nintendo place Wii in the area of many buyers, because the price is a key factor.

What is a board game?

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

A board game is a game in which counters or pieces that are placed on, removed from, or moved across a “board” (a premarked surface, usually specific to that game). Like any other form of entertainment, board games can represent nearly any subject.
There are many different types of board games. As the term denotes a type or form of game, rather than a genre, there is a wide range of different styles of board games. At the most basic level, they can be broken down by games that have no inherent theme (but could still be ‘about’ something) and those with a definite subject, or even story.
